Write(書く)の古英語。 もともとは文字を刻むという意味。 かく(書く・描く)から彫る・刻むへ回帰する。 Write から Writan へ。 かく(書く・描く)よりも前、言葉・絵よりも前。 引っ張り、引きずり、痕跡が残ること。 言葉と絵が分岐する前に馳せる。

The Old English form of "write." Originally, it meant to carve characters. It represents a return from the act of writing or drawing to that of carving or incising—moving from *write* back to *writan*. It predates writing and drawing; it predates words and images. It is the act of pulling or dragging, leaving a trace behind. It takes us back to a time before words and images diverged.
